COMB COLLECTION
BEE BREAD
At the London Alchemists we lovingly care for our own bees, located all around London. As we open up our hives for regular inspections, we truly see the magical crafts’man’ship from these talented ladies! This is Bee Bread.
Bees collect pollen from flowers, mix it with a bit of nectar and place it into the honeycomb. Over time this combination of pollen and nectar ferments into what we call bee bread or ‘Bee Kimchi’ or even pollen pickle if you like - a perfect way to preserve the protein for the winter months when they struggle to find fresh sources.
BURR COMB
Burr comb/brace comb is honeycomb which bees have built in places where there is excess space. Wild honeycomb can be built in beautiful patterns. The bees will build their comb around the cavity that they have available.
WILD COMB
A beautiful collection of my partners wild comb. This comb is 100% pure beeswax. As you can see from the picture the colour of the comb varies. This can be due to pollen and propolis introduced into the comb as well as how frequently they have been used.
