MY SPIRIT FLOWER
Whenever I see a Sunflower, I smile.
Different flowers evoke different feelings and memories. Red roses resonate with feelings of romance, the fragrance of lavender sedates me with feelings of calm and daisies carry associations of being playful and joyous.
Sunflowers simply make me happy.
They encapsulate everything I aim to be.
They are big, bold blooms which represent creativity, resilience and positivity.
Sunflowers are associated with longevity because they can withstand the hottest of days. They appear as if they follow the Sun as they slowly move each day from East to West in the sky. It makes them seem like they are truly devoted and loyal to the magick of the Sun, as we all should be.
With their strong, sturdy and exceptionally long stems, they stand tall and confident. As I swam through this glorious sea of yellow, I noticed the unique intricacies of each flower. A reminder for us to simply embrace our quirks with pride.
The yellow is synonymous with the 7th chakra, which when balanced is associated with harmony, spiritual wisdom and personal power. Yellow also traditionally symbolizes friendship.
Bees are their best friends. The centre of the sunflower contains so much nectar and pollen, an exceptional food source for bees. Each floret in the centre can potentially grow into a seed once pollinated.
The seeds of Sunflowers are reminiscent of my time in Beijing. Cracking them open with my teeth, sipping on green tea and gossiping with the girls.
They glow with empowering energy. A symbol of joy and optimism.
They mirror the brightness of the Sun and embrace the power of sunshine.
We should all be like Sunflowers.
