THYME FOR TEA

Today I woke up feeling a little off. So we brewed a delicious mood boosting pot of thyme tea.

A cup of thyme tea can eradicate feelings of melancholy and exhaustion. It is also a great purifying herb for the digestive tract and muscle tension which helped my upside down tummy today and eased my pounding head.

Thyme tea also helps stimulate memory and fight colds and infections. It has one of the highest antioxidant levels among herbs, its packed with vitamin C and is also a good source of vitamin A.

Fresh, earthy, natural medicine - perfect for our well being.

Thymus Vulgaris is derived from the Greek word thūmós, meaning "spirit". Thyme represents bravery and courage. This versatile herb has been used for its medicinal, spiritual, and culinary benefits for thousands of years.

I've always liked binding a few sprigs of thyme into my sage bundles and recently found out that thyme has been used for millennia in many traditions for protection.

In Roman times, thyme was eaten before a meal by head figures to prevent enemies poisoning them with food. Thyme was also exchanged to show respect and positive intentions, and then burned to invoke spirits of courage in battle. The ancient Egyptians used thyme as part of their embalming concoction to ease the passage to the afterlife.

Boil a handful of fresh thyme with a knob of grated ginger and half a lime. Add honey to taste.
