MAGIC OF BEES - Rituals Workshop

A unique workshop that blends the spiritual with the practical, exploring the rich folklore, history, symbolism, rituals and timeless connections between humans and bees. You’ll immerse yourself in an array of intentional crafts using materials imbued with alchemy from the hive to create your own rituals, inspired by the magic of the bees. You will learn about ancient traditions and the mystical element that bees have enchanted cultures for centuries.

Location - The Wild Bee Workshop, Surrey
Cost - £85 (includes unlimited tea/coffee + cake! Plus all materials, your collection of crafted creations and some goodies to take home!)

About your host!

My name is Moni - I am an artist, apiarist and alchemist. Over the past 10 years, my journey with the bees has profoundly shaped my creative process, allowing me to explore the magic and alchemy of the hive. With 15+ years as a designer working for some of the biggest brands, I continue to channel that creativity into crafting fun, colourful creations and rituals inspired by the bees and made with intention. 

Workshop Overview:

As we delve into the alchemy of the bees, we will learn about beeswax, propolis, pollen, bee-friendly flowers and honey - all of which are powerful, transformative, earth-infused mediums. In this workshop, we will craft an array of tools, inspired by ancient traditions and folklore, that harness the power of the hive, to use in your own rituals and ceremonies. You will create:

• Beeswax candles
• A Wildflower smudge stick
• Propolis Incense
• Protective Pollen talisman
• Honey Infusion

Set against the backdrop of our funky, colourful Studio in Surrey, which coincidently sits above our honey and wax processing workshop! We keep our group small so expect personalised guidance and plenty of space to let your creativity shine.

What Will Happen on the Day:

• Welcome and Introductions
  We'll start the day with a warm beverage, served with a spoonful of our very own honey. I'll provide a brief overview of what to expect throughout the day, and you’ll get acquainted with your host (me!)
• The Sacred Bee
  We’ll begin by sharing folklore and ancient stories about the sacred bee from different cultures and why they’ve been revered throughout history.

• Crafting with Beeswax: Ancient Candle Rituals
  Beeswax is considered one of the most magical and eco-friendly materials and has been used in rituals and ceremonies for centuries to make candles. You’ll get hands-on experience making your own beeswax candles, infused with plant magic, intention and purpose, just as ancient communities did.

• Bee Blessings - Wildflower Smudge Stick
  We will learn how ancient practitioners invoked the presence of bees as protectors of the garden by including bee-friendly herbs, like rosemary, sage and lavender in their smudging rituals to cleanse and bless the space. These plants and wildflowers symbolise strength, healing and purity, which align with the beneficial role bees play in pollinating and sustaining plant life.

• The Power of Propolis - Incense
  Propolis (“bee glue”) has been used by various ancient cultures for thousands of years in rituals, medicine, embalming and preservation. We will learn the historical use of propolis and create our own incense, imbued with bee magic and healing properties. 

• The Power of Pollen - Protective Amulets
   We’ll create our own protective talismans, a practice that dates back to ancient healers who believed bees held the gift of protective magic. 

• Honey Infusions: Potions of the Past
  Honey has long been used in elixirs, potions, love spells, sacred offerings and rituals in many cultures. You’ll create your own custom infusions using herbs, flowers and spices that were traditionally paired with honey for their healing or magical properties. A ritual that blends the wisdom of bees with the healing power of plants.

• Honouring the Hive
  Our day will culminate with a ritual to honour the bees and offer gratitude to these remarkable creatures. Together, we’ll celebrate the bees with intention, creating a personal connection to these ancient art forms, leaving you with a newfound appreciation for these incredible pollinators and the magic they bring to our world!

What to Wear:

Please come in comfortable attire. Anything you won’t mind getting a little waxy!

What we will provide:

All materials and tools needed to craft your bee inspired rituals.
Help yourself to ‘unlimited’ tea and cake throughout the day! (IMPORTANT - Please let me know of any dietary requirements beforehand). End the day with our homemade mead or our homemade non-alcoholic honey cordial, celebrating the ancient connection between bees, honey, wax and Mother Earth.

Terms and Conditions

We have high demand for our courses and put a lot of effort into preparation. If you are unable to attend the course after booking, get in touch with us at least two weeks in advance. I will try to move you to another date where possible. Please note: 25% of your course fee is non-refundable if you cancel your place on the course date.

We are fully insured and have first aid training.
